Introduction of TARES, the new tax for rubbish disposal.

What is TARES?
Tares is the new rubbish disposal tax introduced last year by the Salva Italia decree law - D.L. 201/2011 art.14. Tares will be effective from January 2013, replacing the former rubbish tax Tarsu or Tia.
The costs of TARES
Apart from the waste disposal, Tares will also includes other public services like public lightening and other services provided by Municipalities. Tares will costs 30 cents of Euro per square metre of your house. Therefore if your house is 100 sqm, Tares will cost you 30,00 euro to be paid in four instalments. The last instalment could be increased of 10 cents of Euro per square metre for balance reasons.
When TARES has to be paid?
Tares has to be paid by anyone who owns an house in Italy and also by tenants with a regular rental contract.

The total amount can be paid in four instalments:
- January
- April
- June
- December
